FLASH REPORT: PCS-PICAB Gains Official Recognition as a CCA Member under CHED!

Great news! The Philippine Computer Society Information and Computing Accreditation Board (PICAB)
has been officially recognized as a member of the Coordinating Council of Accreditation (CCA) under
the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). ✅
PICAB, a standing committee under the Philippine Computer Society (PCS), has been actively
contributing to the CCA since its inclusion per Commission En Banc (CEB) Resolution No. 723-2023, as
recommended by the Office of Institutional Quality Assurance and Governance (OIQAG).
The establishment of the Coordinating Council of Accreditation (CCA) traces its roots to Executive Order
Nos. 705 and 705-A dated April 10, 2008, which initially created the CCA under the leadership of the
Commission on Higher Education (CHED). To further strengthen and reorganize the council, CHED
issued CHED Special Order (CSO) No. 34, s. 2019 and CEB Resolution No. 723-2023 reconstituting the
CCA in alignment with national higher education policies to reinforce its role in ensuring quality
assurance and accreditation standards across higher education institutions in the Philippines.
PICAB joins esteemed accreditation bodies, including:
✅ AACUP – Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities
✅ ACSCU-AA – Association of Christian Schools, Colleges, and Universities Accrediting Agency
✅ ALCUCOA – Association of Local Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation
✅ PAASCU – Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities
✅ PACUCOA – Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation
✅ PTC-ACBET – Philippine Technological Council – Accreditation and Certification Board for
Engineering and Technology
This recognition strengthens PCS’ commitment, through PICAB, to advancing quality assurance and
excellence in computing and IT education across the Philippines!
